Composition of relic
In 2015 Bank of America bowed to years of pressure from communities and activists and adopted a new policy that shifted its finance away from coal mining and into solar and wind power
Factors that led us to abandon this object:
Coal was the biggest single contributer to US climate emissions and was responsible for respiratory and heart diseases. Grassroots campaigns brought about increased awareness and regulations, meaning coal was no longer profitable - and social unacceptable.
Obstacles in the way of this relic being abandoned:
Coal mining companies like Peabody and Alpha tried to keep their industry alive.
Strategies we used to overcome those obstacles:
We used grassroots pressure to fight for regulations and corporate policies and we used litigation to keep those regulations enforced.
